Warehouse Construction Is On The Rise

Warehouse construction starts are spiking and expected to continue to grow. Despite many construction projects stalling or stopping all together due to COVID, the warehouse sector is seeing a spike in building. Dodge Date & Analytics defines warehouses as: ‘part of the larger “commercial” construction segment—alongside stores, offices, hotels, and parking garages.’

Part of the increase in need for these types of large structures is the increase in e-commerce and warehouse automation, as well as the demand for more cold storage for food and beverage delivery. These days, logistics is big business, and with everyone shopping online, there must be a place to store product and fulfill orders. Constructing the warehouses that help retailers and other entities meet the demand in e-commerce is growing and that trend is expected to continue in 2021.
