National Safety Stand Down Week 2020!
Make Time to Stand-Down for Safety
This week (Sept 14-18, 2020) is the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction. Falls are the leading cause of fatalities for construction workers. This annual event raises awareness about hazards, particularly falls, in construction and anyone concerned with preventing hazards in the workplace and on the jobsite can participate.
To conduct a Safety Stand-Down, companies and employers are encouraged to break for a toolbox talk (socially distant of course) and allow employees to discuss potential hazards and ask questions. Other safety activities include conducting safety equipment inspections, developing rescue plans, or addressing specific hazards at the jobsite.
There is no need to pre-register; Stand-Downs can be held anytime during the week and employers can download a Certificate of Participation once completed. OSHA is encouraging companies to share their Stand-Down activities on social media using the hashtag:
#StandDown4Safety
