Home Builder Sentiment Soars

Good news for residential home builders; buyer demand was way up in August. Builder confidence in the newly built, single-family home market was up 6 points to a record high of 78 (National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index). This contrasts sharply with a low builder sentiment of 30 back at the start of COVID in April. Additionally, buyer traffic is up 8 points to a high of 65 – its highest number ever. Analysts believe these increases are due to record-low mortgage rates, numbers of people moving to the suburbs, and short supply of houses. See the full report on CNBC.
